Sara Wert is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who provides therapeutic services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She offers individual and family therapy, parent–child training, and educational advocacy upon requisition, as well as collaborates with schools and healthcare providers to deliver a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, Sara empowers youth and families to develop the skills that foster resilience, encourage personal and interpersonal growth, and support achievement across all areas of life.
Under the supervision of Dr. Sharon Z. Johnson, Sara is completing advanced training to become a court-appointed evaluator for 604.10(b) and 604.10(c) child-custody cases, as well as Supreme Court Rule 215 evaluations. She also provides independent clinical supervision for clinicians pursuing LSW or LCSW licensure in Illinois.
Sara brings broad range experience, spanning from adolescent inpatient and outpatient mental health programs, specialized foster care, home health care, and private practice. She has extensive expertise in treating mood disorders, anxiety, low self-esteem, behavioral challenges, eating disorders, trauma and abuse, anger management, and family conflict. Within her therapeutic work, Sara tailors treatment to each client’s individual, unique needs by integrating a range of evidence-based modalities, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
Sara earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A lifelong Chicagoland resident, she enjoys time with her family and friends, especially her nieces, nephew, and dogs, along with volunteering, being outdoors, and cheering on all Chicago sport teams, as well as her alma mater, the UW Badgers!
